Check out all our holiday offers in the Garden Route - prices from R1 148 per person sharing

The beautiful Garden Route stretches from Mossel Bay through to the Storms River mouth. This 200 kilometre route takes travellers through a series of picturesque towns and villages, each with their own unique character. When travelling along the scenic Garden Route, you can stop off at popular spots such as George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Nature's Valley, Storms River and the Tsitsikamma National Park. Other towns along the way include Little Brak, Groot Brak, Herold's Bay, Glentana, Victoria Bay and Brenton on Sea, all of which have their own special charm and character.

There is much to do in particular if seeking adventure. Zip from tree to tree on a Tsitsikamma canopy tour, bungee jump off the Bloukrans Bridge, reputed to be the world’s highest commercially operated jump, or the Gourits Bridge if you want something a little less extreme. With many hiking and mountain biking routes winding their way through breath-taking terrain, hikers and bikers will find something to suit their fitness and experience level along the Garden Route. Prepare to do some whale-spotting at lookout points along the way and bird-watching opportunities abound. It is easy to understand why it is considered by many to be South Africa's "Garden of Eden".

ATTRACTIONS
Garden Route National Park - The new Garden Route National Park spans an impressive 121 000 hectares and includes the existing Wilderness and Tsitsikamma National Parks, the Knysna Lakes area and roughly 52 000 hectares of newly proclaimed land. The Garden Route National Park is so large it falls across both the Eastern Cape and Western Cape and offers a series of tourist facilities that include camping areas, chalets, hiking and mountain bike trails, forest trails, canoeing, diving and other local activities.
Birds of Eden Bird Sanctuary - The world's largest single span aviary, just a few kilometres east of Plettenberg Bay in the Garden Route, where birds are free to fly free provides an incredible experience for those who visit, and a wonderful way of life for over 2000 previously caged birds.
Bungee jumping - the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. Positioned along the gorgeous Garden Route, the Bloukrans Bungee Jump will send you plummeting 216m, headfirst, towards the bottom. Because of the extreme height of this bungee jump, a full body harness is used, instead of the traditional ankle harness.
Outeniqua Nature Reserve - Not far from George on the Garden Route, the 38 000 hectares Outeniqua Nature Reserve lies in the heart of the Outeniqua Mountains. Five passes cross the reserve, and ten hiking trails, lead along the mountain face of the Outeniqua with incredible views over land and sea. There is a lot of history in these hikes and markers of some of the initial trails, which would have been used by settlers and explorers in ox-wagons, are carved on rocks.
Featherbed Nature Reserve - A Natural Heritage site, the Featherbed Nature Reserve in Knysna is a unique privately owned reserve that lies on the Western Head of the famous landmarks known as 'The heads' in Knysna, accessible only by ferry. Many people make a day of it, catching the ferry across the lagoon, going on a drive or walk through the reserve followed by a picnic under milkwood trees, in the hopes of sighting the beautiful green, Knysna Loerie. This and the other popular Garden Route icon, the blue-duiker - one of the smallest and most endangered of the antelope species, which is not only found on the Featherbed reserve but is also part of a breeding programme here.
Outeniqua Choo Tjoe - The only remaining passenger steam train in Africa that operates according to a schedule, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe runs between George and Mossel Bay on the Garden Route; an exciting journey, and one of the greatest experiences on this part of the coast.
